FAQ

Help with common questions

Can you tell me whether I will be accepted?

We cannot. Acceptance is decided by lenders using their own criteria, and we have no connection with any of them. Nothing on this site should be read as a prediction.

What is the difference between interest and APR?

Interest is the charge for the money you borrow. APR folds interest together with certain compulsory charges and expresses the result as a yearly figure, so it gives a fuller picture of cost.

How often should I look at my credit report?

Many people find a yearly look is enough, with an extra check before any major application. Reading it often enough to spot errors early is the main point.

Why is a joint loan riskier than it looks?

Each signer is typically responsible for the whole debt, not just a share. If one person stops paying, the other can be asked to cover everything, and both files may be affected.

What happens to my payments if I overpay once?

That depends on the agreement. Some lenders reduce the balance and shorten the term, while others lower later payments or apply a charge. Ask before you pay extra.
